A favorite pastime of mine is spotting jewelry in paintings. Whether it be an Elizabethan dandy’s multiple strings of pearls or a Victorian woman’s mourning jewels, these pieces are a fascinating glimpse into what was most prized in a particular culture or period of time.

It was during the Georgian era that the art form of eye miniatures took off among the wealthy. The fad for wearing a tiny painting of your mystery lover’s eye on a ring or pendant was started by who else but George IV, who first had one painted for his lover, the scandalously Catholic and twice-widowed Maria Fitzherbert.

Today, designers are creating scandal-free—but no less beautiful—jewelry incorporating miniature paintings once again. The gems featured here are quite literally wearable masterpieces.

My experience at Santayana was incredible from start to finish. My fiancé and I wanted to design a wedding band with diamonds we had from both of our grandmothers. The final piece came out better than I could ever have imagined. I love my wedding band so much! Rudy helped us come up with a unique design as we had various shapes and sizes of stones. The entire process was top notch. The technology they use helped bring my vision to life right before my eyes. I could not recommend Santayana more.

Santayana jewelers are God Sent! There store is immaculate and every piece is swoon worthy! The customer service is unmatched and their professionalism is evident. I first contacted Santayana when it came highly recommended from other ladies in the area. I was looking to fix my engagement ring that a well known jeweler (Jared’s) severely botched 2 days before my wedding. They tried to fix it but it was not nearly what it was when I was first given my ring. I had two other jewelers take a look and try to fix it but they never knew the vision of what I was explaining and did not improve the ring whatsoever. Fast forward 6 years later, I contacted Santayana. After explaining over the phone my issue, Rudy knew exactly what I was talking about and explained what he believed was the issue and was spot on! I KNEW right then and there that he was the real deal and his years of experience really reflected as we spoke. Let me tell you - when I got my ring back it was exactly how it was when I first received my engagement ring! Something no other jeweler was able to do for me! I am so happy I found them and I will only be taking my business here- I even put a small deposit to hold a piece I fell in love with that I plan to purchase in the near future. I have nothing but gratitude and was blown away by Santayana jewelers! Thank you for finally letting me be at peace with my ring!!

I came here to get my engagement ring sized up. They were super friendly and helpful. I messaged them on Yelp with pictures of my ring and got an immediate response and quote from Greg. I dropped my ring off and picked it up the next day perfectly resized. They even gave me a complimentary jewelry cleaner bottle! The location itself is in a large building that hosts over a hundred jewelry and gem showrooms, so it can be a bit of a maze to navigate, but it's clean, safe and welcoming. I'll definitely come back if my ring or other jewelry needs servicing.

I had an awesome experience buying an engagement ring with Santayana Jewelry. I travel all of FL and the US virgin Islands for work, and I would look at local Jewelers in cities like Naples, West Palm, Orlando, Tampa, even in St. Thomas where they are known for their Diamonds. I even looked at online stores. I did a lot of research on the diamond I wanted, the style my wife wanted, and shopped around for a few months. Santayana was the best to work with, and gave the best price for the ring I wanted.I highly recommend going here. My Wife loves her ring, and still tells me this after two years that she loves her ring and still gets complimented on the her ring... we even bought both our wedding bands at Santayana. Plus, my Wife bought her mom a pearl ring at this store as a gift. Every time I went into the store the customers told me sincerely how wonderful the store was and the customer service. I experienced it first hand. He sat with me on multiple occasions, and we even went through a custom AutoCAD design together where he printed a 3D version of the ring.Not only was the ring and setting perfect, but the diamond he was able to get is beautiful, and I couldn't be more happy with how everything turned out.Engagement rings are a big purchase, but I was glad my money went to Santayana.

I can’t say enough good things about this amazing jewelry store! Rudy is a sweetheart. We took my original wedding rings and he designed the most gorgeous ring, while still using my diamond and wedding band!!! A new spectacular ring without losing the sentimental value of my rings I got engaged and married with. When shopping for an engagement ring, I did a Google search and stumbled upon Santayana. I am not experienced with jewelry, and it's huge investment. I was skeptical to see all 5-star reviews, but when I saw in the comments there were so many satisfied customers, we had nothing to lose! We specifically were drawn to the CUSTOM engagement rings that people were raving about. Upon arrival, Rudy was quick to greet us, and once he was free, he consulted with us, asked many questions to get a good idea of what we were looking for, and proceeded to pull out his laptop and DESIGN THE RING IN FRONT OF OUR EYES. I couldn't believe his skill level!! We designed several rings, and eventually settled on one. And Rudy explained that he would have it 3D printed and we can come in and try it on. We heard from him shortly after that, tried it on, and gave final tweaks. A few months later, I was surprised by the most STUNNING, CUSTOM, GORGEOUS ring I have ever seen. I can't thank Rudy and his team enough for such a perfect experience. I will be going to him for our wedding bands, and sending all of our family and friends to him.

We are so happy with the quality of the jewelry and level of service provided by Rudy and his mother-in-law Nury. My partner picked out an engagement ring but knew I most likely wanted to design a ring, Rudy made it easy for us to exchange for a custom ring. The design process was so much fun! Rudy is super creative and passionate about design, and you can see his work while he draws it up on the computer in real time. We showed him a couple of pictures for inspiration, adding our feedback. He was super patient and really wanted to make us something we would love. The coolest part is getting to come back a couple of days later to see (and keep) the 3-D printed mold to check out the setting and fit. They are a local family owned and operated store using some very cool tech. My ring is stunning. Can’t recommend this store enough and to return for our bands. Thanks again.

The folks at Santayana are wonderful to do business with them. They have a unique selection of jewelry like I have never seen before. I was greeted with so much kindness and patience even though they were technically closed. They took the time to share all the wonderful one of a kind creations they have been designing and offered several payment options which are pretty awesome. I was very happy to have walked out with my Valentine's present for my boyfriend. Had they not been so kind and let me in, I would not have a Valentines present for Tuesday because I live far away and cannot make it during weekdays. I was set on this gift that I can only get there since it is a unique design of theirs that my boyfriend really wanted. Definitely will return and shop there again. Phenomenal experience, I’m suprised there aren’t more reviews, considering this is a family owned business for many decades. I came to fix two broken chains and walked out in 10 mins completely satisfied with one gold chain fixed and the other silver chain was Unsalvageable so I bought another great quality silver chain for a cheap price 👍🏻 . Nice ambience , and extremely friendly employees. Would definitely recommend and come again :)

Santayana Jewelers was the luckiest google search I have ever done. After years of searching for the perfect cafetera Cubana for my charm bracelet, I finally found this magical place. At first my family and I would just order our fun Cuban charms online but after a while, our curiosity was peaked and we went to meet the masterminds behind the stunningly beautiful pieces. Santayana was amazing! I had such a challenge finding someone to make me custom wedding band in my area because of the way my ring was made. Rudy and his team, had no doubts about it. Everything from the size and the details on the ring were everything I asked for. I would highly recommend for anybody to visit them for your jewelry needs as they were trust worthy and easy to work with, even considering I do not live in the area. They made it and delivered it, right when they said they would. It was an exceptional experience!

I absolutely love the semanario I recently purchased. The customer service was exceptional. My wrist was measured for the best size, the width of the bracelet was recommended, and the additional enhanced bracelet was suggested. All demonstrated to totally satisfy me.
